It notes that children can be affected by direct exposure to conflict but also by indirect factors such as the emotional state of their carers. While play can have a hugely positive effect on children’s development and their recovery from trauma, displacement greatly limits children’s play. The book suggests ways to support young refugee children, mainly through play.
