The Children of Kabul – Discussions with Afghan Families

The study explores three main topics : well-being goals for Afghan children; the threats children face in achieving well-being; and the coping resources children already have for dealing with their difficulties. The findings of the research are relevant for all who seek to provide assistance to Afghan children – and war-affected children worldwide – as they come to terms with the challenges they face, and try to make better futures for themselves. Save the Children’s immediate recommendation is for a holistic, child-focused psychosocial approach in designing, implementing, evaluating, and continuing support programs for the great majority of the children of Kabul and all of Afghanistan.
